Tibetan Spaniel Puppy Health

Generally we keep quite fit and healthy. But when it comes to my health as a  Tibetan Spaniel  puppy, there are many potential ailments that can catch me off guard. Ailments can be emotionally devastating and of course expensive for you if they are not dealt with quickly and effectively. Instead of responding to potential health problems as they arrive, learn what you can do to avoid them in the first place and keep me happy and healthy.

My Potential  Health Problems

Just like humans we can, as Tibetan Spaniel Puppies, suffer from any number of health issues. The difference is that we cannot tell you “I have a stomach ache”. We will often suffer in silence until there is a very real pain that needs to be treated. So, it’s important to recognise the symptoms and the actions you can take to avoid these issues in the first place.

Infections –Tibetan Spaniel puppies can suffer from a number of potential infections, in their ears, on their skin, in their eyes and their teeth. Ear infections are the most common and are often due to a foreign body or bacteria getting in there. So please check my ears frequently for red spots, swelling, excess moisture, or dirt. Of all our health problems, infections are the easiest to prevent. Clean my eyes, brush my teeth and hair regularly to avoid any potential bacteria build up.

Allergies – As a Tibetan Spaniel Puppy, we can have many forms of allergies. By far the most common is a flea allergy that can cause hot spots and lead to infections. The best thing is to get flea medication for me every month and have a vet examine me regularly to ensure I am keeping nice and healthy. A Tibetan Spaniel Puppy’s health can be affected by a skin problem which can lead to a nasty  ear infection or some  other hot spot. On occasions it may be a result of a food allergy – a more severe issue that should be addressed by my vet. Look out for watery eyes and scratching – if you see me doing this, please check my eyes and skin for possible infections.

Diabetes – Our health problems tend to mirror human issues in many ways and diabetes is one such potential disease. Excess rich, fatty and sugary foods can result in pancreatic issues that cause diabetes. To avoid diabetes, keep me on a strict diet of puppy foods with minimal table scraps or excess meals. If I am diagnosed with diabetes, you’ll need to take me to see a vet regularly.

Obesity – Eating too much and lack of any exercise can shorten my life span so I would prefer a healthy diet of puppy food and regular exercise. I like snacks as any other puppy does, so watch what I get to eat and this will keep me nice and fit.

So please ensure that I eat well each day, have some exercise and that you keep me clean and well groomed, then many of these Tibetan Spaniel puppy health problems will never be an issue.
