Tibetan Spaniel Puppy Training

Remember I am like a child, as a puppy I want to explore everything and test everything out. So in the early days you will need to watch me and help me to understand how to do things!

Please check your home and garden for any potential hazards, if there are any I will be sure to find them. In the house keep any small toys, rubber bands, pen tops or treasures I could swallow well out of reach, so I cannot chew them and choke.

I do love chewing as Tibetan spaniel puppy, I can think of nothing better than to find a good piece of electrical wire, garden wire in my mouth and chew it. Not good if I want to live a while! The best thing is to buy me a great doggy toy or ball that you are happy for me to chew to my little hearts content. If you spray cords or things you don’t want me to chew, with some nasty doggy repellent, I will avoid them believe me – unless of course I like the taste!

It is best not to leave anything near me that smells interesting, like a rubbish bin, I like to explore and maybe find something nice to nibble. I am quite good at learning how to get into cupboards too – just so you know. I do watch you, so if there is something in one of your cupboards that intrigues me – I may try to get in too. Sometimes I get a shock of course and find nasty cleaners in there.

I love to play and one great thing I found was a toilet roll – that was fun! I pulled and pulled and it followed me all the way downstairs and under the chairs – it lasted a while before I got bored and then chewed it up instead. I did make a real mess, so best to keep these away from your Tibetan spaniel puppy as well.

As a Tibetan Spaniel I love to explore the garden, so I will check your fences, your gate if you have one and of course your flowers and vegetable patch.  So please make sure there are no poisonous plants to send me to heaven early. Sometimes I may find an area to have a good old dig and may find an escape route – not that I want to leave you, but if it looks like an adventure – then I just have to take a look. So best to keep an eye on your garden security!

I will need to learn some house training, so I understand what I need to do and where – it all seems strange at first as a Tibetan puppy and I do get excited at times too. Also keep me up to date with checkups with my doctor – the vet, to keep any nasties from me.

As a puppy I will bring you lots of love and happiness. I am always pleased to see you and love a cuddle. Just keep me safe and teach me what is what and we will be great friends for years.
